Tarrega TG-B Classical Guitar - Saboru Nogami
This impressive guitar is ultra-rare
it was made in Japan in the mid-1970s and was supervised if not made by the legendary Saburo Nogami who was Masaru Kohno's number one apprentice.
Nogami worked with the great Kohno for 11 years before going out to make his own guitars. He was also responsible for supervising Zen-On, Kazuo Yairi and Nisshin Kogyo's classical guitar production among other brands and custom workshops.
This is a full-size guitar with an unmistakable Nogami body shape. The body is a bit slender and smaller. The upper bout is 27 cm and the lower bout is 35 cm compared to the traditional Ramirez guitar which is 29 cm and 38 cm. The body is deeper and 10mm thicker, it is in fact 10.5 cm compared to the traditional 9.5 cm. This also makes it easier to hold and to play.
This particular body shape creates a more responsible and punchy sound like that of a parlour guitar while retaining the warmth and richness of a larger body guitar.
The deeper body creates loud and tight basses, while the slender dimensions create clear and sweet trebles.
The tone of this guitar is magical, a perfect balance of dynamics and overtones.
One can truly appreciate it when comparing it to other guitars in my large collection.
The guitar is in amazing condition considering it is about 50 years old.
It only has a small blemish under the clear coat, but this has no effect on the sound of the guitar and it adds some character to its esthetics. Please see the photos.
