This was the most expensive Yamaha classical guitar in Australia back in the early '70s early ’80s until Yamaha introduced the C-255 (G-255 export model)
The retail price of this was equal to 2 weeks' wage.
I have modified and enhanced the top to make it louder, more resonant and with more harmonics.
The Brazilian rosewood back and sides help give the sound a deeper and more resonant tone.
This early version has higher grade tonewood as materials and labour were more affordable. The later iterations of this guitar were made from cheaper tonewood such as mahogany and with no embellishment such as pufflings.
Brazilian Rosewood got banned in 1977, so most guitars built after that year have Indian rosewood or cheaper timber.
