Fernandes GC-20 Grand Concert Guitar
This guitar was completed on Saturday 03/04/1976 (Yes, people used to on Saturdays as well) and the 97th guitar in the series.
Fernandes made guitars for export and would commission the best builders to make their guitars.
This Guitar was made by Takamine, in line with Takamine's export quality guitars.
Fernandes knew that their export guitars were out of reach for the local market so they made cheaper and inferior versions of the same guitars. They had to cut corners to accommodate for the difference in income. The easiest way is to use cheaper tuning machines.
If you look at the photos, you would notice that the tuning machines of this guitar look amazing. This guitar was one of those better guitars where no cost was spared in their price range.
The original price of this guitar was 20,000 Japanese yens which was about 4 months wage for people on a minimum wage.
The tone is wonderful. It has loud and clear basses and light and crystalline trebles, like a breath of fresh air.
